Golden light…is the colour we begin
I am deeply indebted to the five artists that added their brilliance and shaped this recording. They are all ground breaking avant-garde musicians with each one offering a unique language expressed through the guitar.
I had an idea for Golden Light to be one long piece of music broken into smaller movements with each movement relating to a stage of development - from birth to death and so on. I had John Coltrane’s A Love Supreme in Mind and in a way this recording is a kind of homage to him.
Golden Light is a meditation on the purity that we are all born with and the internal struggle we all face to maintain this purity throughout our journey. In Buddhism it is called Buddha Nature or the goodness within that we all contain…it starts with a tiny seed or potential and its growth is dependent on our actions.
Golden Light is a meditation on this inherent goodness that we all possess. There is no long term happiness outside the mind-body. It is always short lived and followed by immediate craving for the experience to be repeated. It can of course be repeated but for how many times and at what cost?

Kris Kruga is a guitarist, improvisor, composer, songwriter, sound-eXperimenter who plays free-jazz, funk, psychedelic blues. Chis calls Weaverville, North Carolina home.
Giannis Arapis is guitarist from Greece playing improvised, free jazz, experimental, free improvisation, and noise. His projects include Ramdat, Vasilaraps, The Coal, Slow Arrow and he has collaborated with Noël Akchoté, Kawol Smarkandi among many others.
Heikki Ruokangas is a young gifted guitarist, composer and improviser from Oulu, Finland. By combining melody and noise, his music ranges from delicate and melodic atmospheres to avant-garde cacophony. He's performed throughout Europe and has collaborated with Noël Akchoté and released over 20 collaborative and solo recordings.
Chris Alford is a guitarist/composer/improvisor living in New Orleans, Mississippi. He’s equally adept playing bebop, rock, free improvisation or blues, his unique guitar voice has no stylistic bounds, yet retains a distinctive personal approach. He has collaborated with many musicians including Joe Morris, Jesse Morrow, Will Thompson, Rhonda Richmond.
Ernesto Diaz-Infante is a guitarist, composer and improviser from the Californian Bay Area. Since the mid-'90s, Ernesto has been one of the most prolific avant-garde composer and improviser the U.S. West Coast and has seen performing and recording music on piano, prepared guitar, and electronics.
